Due to its historical development, the Herressener Promenade garden monument is an essential testimony to an urban recreational facility from the late 19th and early 20th centuries for garden art in Thuringia. From the beginning it was civic engagement that drove the development of the park. Despite all the changes that took place up to the turn of the millennium, the main features of the promenade have been preserved. The park becomes more and more scenic towards the south. The peace pond with all around gentle natural embankments conveys space and tranquility. It is surrounded by flowering banks, reeds and reeds. To enhance the experience of nature, a 250 m long wooden footbridge, the "Passarelle", leads directly over the water of the Friedensteich.
