Nice place to rest.

You're used to seeing a summit cross from afar. That's not the case here. A good 10 meters before the cross, you'll hear a surprised "ahh!" But it's definitely a good place to rest! It's nice that there are plenty of rest stops all around.

The Herrenteich is an integral part of today's cityscape: the city in the green and a small oasis between the modern buildings. Originally it served as a fire pond and fish farm. The artificial castle ruins once formed the main entrance to the English Garden. From the ruins you have a wonderful view of the pond. The staircase to the bank is, however, terribly littered and overgrown.

The Herrenteich is located in the center of Suhl. The House of History is right next door. Opposite in the Congress Center is the Vehicle and Weapons Museum, as well as the Ottilien Baths. A day ticket in the parking garage costs 7.70 euros.
