Unfortunately, the man cave is a bit difficult to find (depending on how you look at it). The signpost disappeared a long time ago. If you still want to go there, look out for the beech tree with the blue letters MH.

The dwarf caves are located in the immediate vicinity of Rachelsberg. The caves are just a few meters away from the premium hiking trail. There are several crevices in the rocks with small caves, where the attentive hiker can sometimes see dwarves ;-)

South of Lengenfeld unterm Stein, in the Dünberg, in the upper third of this shell limestone mountain, lies the so-called human cave, a typical demolition crack cave in the shell limestone. It was probably mentioned as early as 1630-1632 and surveyed in the GDR in 1987. The mouth in the form of a mountain crack is located in a small ravine or in a ditch, after which the cave probably runs predominantly vertically. As children we crawled in there, at some point you have to squat down, it gets damn tight. According to stories, a tunnel used to lead from the Heiligenstadt town hall to the dwarf cave. The sandstone cliffs look enormous

A very beautifully designed place, in which the Mariengrotte occupies the largest and most beautiful part. A beautiful facility, decoratively designed in terms of construction and floral decorations, as well as a nice resting place to pause for a moment.

Lourdes Grottoes in Germany The first Lourdes grottoes were built in Germany at the end of the 19th century. Catholic associations and private individuals began to portray the famous Marian apparitions from Lourdes in life-size. In many places, semi-open grottos were built based on the Massabielle grotto. The natural stones used as building material, for example perforated stones or tuff stones, created a cave-like space that was mystical in the taste of the 19th century. The center of this room is a figure of Mary that corresponds to the description of Bernadette Soubirous: a woman in a white dress with a blue belt that extends to the floor, with folded hands. The Mariengrotten have lost none of their attraction. People go there, light a candle, say a "Hail Mary" or some other prayer. They ask for healing in their illnesses and help in need.
