The old Heerweg, a very beautiful route that joins the East Frisian hiking trail. The path leads from Aurich to Wittmund behind the airfield.

I found the little cabin on Booking.com and love the simple but more than adequate amenities. The house is super tidy, although the stairs to the captain's cabin take some getting used to because they're steep. But it's the same on a ship, and that's how you should look at it. The cabins are comfortable, the galley is full and clean, the latrine is small but the separate bathroom is spacious. I don't know if I'm allowed to advertise, but I like it here because on ships, you squat over the railing, at least on older sailing ships.

The bicycles have to be parked a bit earlier, at the beginning of the beach! A worthwhile short walk.
