The fish pond business was originally in the Reuschberge district of Lingen, where the Emsland station is today. The ponds were moved into the forest here in the 1960s. The business does not have to have existed for long. This was dissolved and the fish ponds were left to their fate to this day. No fish have been spotted in the ponds.

Lots of little ponds, lots of frogs

The Mickelmeer is actually a heath pond, but due to climate change, which has caused the groundwater level to drop and little rain in recent years, the water level has dropped there. Trees and bushes have also settled there. This does not detract from the beauty of the area, but you should still keep it in mind. The Mickelmeer is a nature reserve because rare plants such as the bog lily grow there.
