A very very beautiful place

Very nice place to stay overnight after long bike rides. But also highly recommended as an overnight stay after a barbecue with friends 👍

Former hunting lodge of the Hessian Electors, which today serves as a cozy refuge, as well as a historic rampart from 1866 with a forest nature trail.

The “Green Hunter” is a small half-timbered house in the Großes Holz state forest in Darlaten. It dates from 1795 and was the home of the state forest's lumberjacks until around 1920. It was then lived in by the Neidler couple until 1977. In 1975, targeted attempts to preserve the "Green Hunter" began in Darlaten. In order to save the building from decay and demolition, the Altes Amt Uchte tourist association took it into its care in 1977. The only historical building in Darlaten was no longer there to save. A renovation was out of the question for cost reasons. So it was decided to build a new building, which was, however, on the old site. The official inauguration took place in 1992.
