The small firefighting and village pond was revitalized and redesigned as part of a federally funded project between 2021 and 2023. The goal was to create refuges for animals, give nature space to develop, and at the same time re-establish a village center with a pleasant atmosphere for people. Measures such as aerating the pond and removing non-native and diseased trees around it were part of this. Several information boards explain the project, piles of stones and deadwood serve as refuges for animals, benches were installed, and a path was laid out so that we can walk all the way around the pond. The pond, along with the flowering meadow and orchard opposite and the rest area at the book phone booth, is part of the island biotope. The name alone is tempting: The Love Island in the Wonder Lake! Since 2014, the new wooden bridge has led across to the 50 m² island, and a comfortable bench invites you to linger and look out over the water. A mighty weeping willow lets its branches hang casually into the water and forces its way into the picture in a photogenic way. A must every time you walk through the park!
