The small firefighting and village pond was revitalized and redesigned as part of a federally funded project between 2021 and 2023. The goal was to create refuges for animals, give nature space to develop, and at the same time re-establish a village center with a pleasant atmosphere for people. Measures such as aerating the pond and removing non-native and diseased trees around it were part of this. Several information boards explain the project, piles of stones and deadwood serve as refuges for animals, benches were installed, and a path was laid out so that we can walk all the way around the pond. The pond, along with the flowering meadow and orchard opposite and the rest area at the book phone booth, is part of the island biotope. Great bike ride with my wife. Between Trent, Fressen and Grosow we avoided the road. Just a little tip here, wider tires are an advantage because there are some sandy paths to conquer and I even had to push once. We drove back about 4km on the road.

The Wieker Bodden is one of the so-called North Ruegener Bodden. It is a lagoon that is almost entirely surrounded by the island of Rügen. Here you can drive along the water and enjoy the view of the water. The Bodden is also a popular hotspot for water sports enthusiasts. Maybe you can spot some of the colorful stunt kites used by kitesurfers from land.
