Very good for hiking

The Mackenröder Trail is a fine single trail that meanders above the Mackenröder cliffs and sometimes leads very close to the edge of the cliff. You should drive carefully in these places in greasy, dirty weather. Overall, however, the trail is great to ride. There is only one very steep section that is a bit challenging. Tip for "biobikers": You should drive the trail north. It's more fun there, because it's mostly downhill and only has to be pedaled briefly uphill in a few places.

It's geologically very interesting here. The terrain is in motion. Over the years, material breaks off the steep face here and there, so that fortunately it shifts very slowly towards the west. Under the layer of lime is the red, that is the layer of the upper red sandstone. Red becomes slightly mushy with moisture. The weight of the limestone layer results in redness (earth glaciers), which can be guessed below the steep edge. The path along the cliffs is just fun. It is interspersed with roots and small slopes. There is still a safety distance to the edge of the steep face. The brook meanders very nicely in places. Also recommended in rainy weather: amphibians and amphibians can also be observed. Good water can be refilled at the Hördelbrunnen.

The Weißwasserbach leads through an idyllic piece of forest to Ebergötzen. Along meadows and interesting rock formations made of red sandstone.
