A gastronomic highlight that I can highly recommend.

Kahnsdorfer See The smallest and shallowest of the three remaining Vetschau lakes is located in the Kahnsdorf district (now Raddusch district) of the devastated village of the same name. After reaching the drainage level at 57.2 m above sea level, it will have a water surface of approx. 58 hectares and will then drain into the former settling basin via the Kahnsdorfer Feldgraben in the direction of Raddusch. In contrast to the Bischdorfer See, which is used for tourism, it will be left to itself and will thus produce its own undisturbed biodiversity.

A nice place to rest. Here you have a wide view over the lake. Ducks often float on the water, hundreds of geese in autumn and mute and whooper swans in winter.

The small structure, which is open on all sides, offers protection from rain in some places. On nice days you can also enjoy the great view of Lake Schlendorf from a bench.

Where time seems to stand still and history lurks in every corner, you will find the Wotschofska restaurant, a real gem in the Spreewald. Since 1890, this building has proudly stood on the island that gave it its name - a tribute to the Sorbian word for "island". In the middle of the green landscape, where waterways meander through nature like silvery ribbons, this restaurant has already hosted many a hiker, cyclist or paddler. Everyone is looking for a break from everyday life, a moment of peace and maybe a cool drink in the shade of old trees. When you arrive here, you will quickly notice that the restaurant's beer garden is a very special place. In the high season, the tables and chairs shine in bright colors, and the cheerful babble of the guests' voices mixes with the gentle rippling of the water. Here, where paddlers moor their boats and tired cyclists stretch their legs, the charm of old times merges with the lively present. It is more than just an inn. It is a meeting place, a piece of Spreewald history and certainly one of the most idyllic rest stops you will discover on your trip. So if you are looking for a place where you can unwind and immerse yourself in the past, then the Wotschofska inn is just the thing for you.

The whole circuit leads through the former Schlabendorf-Süd opencast mining area. Opencast mining was already abandoned in the 1970s, and several exciting areas have emerged, for example the Sielmanns natural landscape of Wanninchen. In some places it is even possible to swim, but please note the prohibition signs, here slopes can still slip or the ground give way! Another nice highlight on the way: the Fürstlich Drehna moated castle, in my opinion one of the prettiest castles in Brandenburg. Bonus of the tour: Start and end is in Groß Beuchow, where the old country castle is worth seeing and the Landware farm shop offers a perfect snack.
