The place was first mentioned in a document in 1534. The Stolzenburg in Stelzenberg, which was built by the "Lord of Stelzenberg", was first mentioned in 1293. The castle, built in 1244, was completely destroyed in the Thirty Years' War. Stelzenberg later belonged to the Wilenstein lordship in the county of Falkenstein and was purchased in 1719 by the Electorate of the Palatinate's chief huntsman, Baron Ludwig Anton von Hacke (1682-1752); it remained in the possession of his family, who resided at Trippstadt Castle, until the end of the feudal period. At times the place was also under the jurisdiction of the Winnweiler district office. From 1798 to 1814, when the Palatinate was part of the French Republic (until 1804) and then part of the Napoleonic Empire, Stelzenberg was incorporated into the canton of Kaiserslautern and was under the jurisdiction of the Mairie Trippstadt. In 1815 the municipality was annexed to Austria. Just one year later, the town, like the entire Palatinate, became part of the Kingdom of Bavaria. From 1818 to 1862, it belonged to the Kaiserslautern district commission, from which the Kaiserslautern district office emerged. The Horst forestry house was built in 1835 by Baron Friedrich von Gienanth as a forestry farmstead. He was the owner of the Trippstadt castle, the ironworks, the farms, the forests and other properties in the districts around Trippstadt and Stelzenberg. In 1865, the property was transferred to the Bavarian state for a purchase price of one million guilders. The forestry house is currently owned by the state.

You can also take a break here. Unfortunately, the seats were occupied when I passed there.
