The road is well-maintained. Great views over fields, meadows, and forest passages. Be sure to stop at the Augustusschacht Memorial. Admission is free.

The gorge is currently inaccessible, but it's still beautiful to look at from the outside. The forest path leads past the gorge from two sides, once at the same level and once higher up, allowing you to see inside and admire the scenery from above.

I've always wanted to ride down the Zittertal valley. Today, it finally happened! A long, winding descent with rewarding views and half-timbered houses. The climb out of the Königsbach valley above Kronsundern is, of course, quite a challenge...

The gorge is the place of execution of the 22-year-old Polish forced laborer Zdislaw Talma, whose crime was his love for the German Wilhelmine K. - the charge was "racial defilement". The young girl was sent to the women's concentration camp Ravensbrück and liberated by the Allies in 1945 as a broken woman. Rest in peace, Zdislaw.
