The Bodenmühle is a historic property in Bayreuth, closely linked to the Grunau estate and the local industrial history. Today, it is primarily known for the nearby, geologically interesting Bodenmühlwand (Bodenmühl Wall). The mill is situated on the Red Main River, near the Grunau estate and the Knochenmühlweiher (Bone Mill Pond). Formerly part of the Grunau estate, the mill served a unique purpose: several owners used it to produce bone meal, which was used as an additive for fertilizer and animal feed. Later, it was also used as a distillery and vinegar factory. The mill itself is now a building of historical significance, no longer functioning as a mill. The area surrounding the mill is part of the city's nature reserve and the Red Main Floodplain Trail.

Beautiful viewpoint over the Craimoosweiher and also a good shelter in case of rain.

The Püttlachweiher pond is beautifully situated, very romantic. An unusual wooden table invites you to linger and enjoy a snack. A few meters further on is the Püttlach spring.

The LBV has acquired the pond and looks after it in the spirit of nature conservation. Cycling and horse riding are not allowed here.

I cycled past it today and couldn't tear myself away 🤩 Tons of frogs and dragonflies. Beautiful spot!
