Anyone who follows the trail here must be aware that it ends up becoming a real via ferrata. The beginning of the trail is like a beautiful mountain hiking trail. Towards the end, however, you need to be absolutely sure-footed and wear good shoes, especially on the descent, even if it is only a short stretch. The scenery is of course very attractive. 🧗🙂

The "Ofnet caves" are natural karst caves and the remains of an underground karst system on the crater rim of the Nördlinger Ries. You are on the south-western part of the nearly two-kilometer-long Riegelberg – a limestone ridge that is also known as the “Himmelreich”. Archaeological finds indicate that the caves were inhabited from the Middle Paleolithic to the Mesolithic. Smells musty inside, hopefully not only due to the stupid people who do their business inside. 😡 A torch is recommended for the last part. There are seats in front of the cave to take a break.
