A series of ponds, which are difficult or even impossible to reach from the trail, are fed by the main source stream of the Thalach. Near these ponds, there is a small rampart with embankments surrounding a nearly square area. The exact significance is unclear.

The Bechthaler Weiher is located in the idyllic Anlautertal below the castle ruins, approx. 300 m as the crow flies east of Bechthal. The Anlauter flows past on the south side. The water area is approximately 1.5 hectares and has an average depth of 2 meters. Wooden beams lead across the water for balancing purposes and immediately separate the non-swimmer and swimmer areas. The swimming stream was dammed up below the small town of Appenstetten to form an idyllic (bathing?) lake. You can walk all the way around it. The shore area has been mowed and, in addition to a large wooden platform, offers sunny and shady places to rest, but no benches. Quietly and idyllically situated on the rarely used connecting road between the villages of Schwimbach and Aue. I have found no evidence of private ownership and bathing ban.
