A very beautiful natural area.

The Fiedlergrund in Radebeul is an idyllic valley with a lot of history. Its stream, once a powerful watercourse, now disappears into the sand. Formerly known as Walthers Grund, it was a popular tourist destination with a pub. Today, a nature trail leads through forests and past old quarries.

The short, deeply cut valley has always been called this. It runs through the area from Proschwitz in the direction of Zscheila to Fürstengraben. The name Heiliger Grund goes back to a legend about Benno (Bishop of Meissen), who was associated with the valley. Bishop Benno is said to have often preached in the valley and also stayed there often. Once, when the people who had gathered around him became thirsty, Bishop Benno is said to have struck a rock with his bishop's staff, whereupon a spring sprung up at this point. The Wolfsschlucht sounds more martial than it really is. The gorge forms only a small piece of the forest, of course without wolves today.
