The Otto Wolff tunnel was started in 1935 to connect the Leopoldine-Louise mine to the Holzappeler mine. In civil engineering, the pit reached level 25 at 750 m below sea level. The pit was accessed by at least 36 tunnels with a total length of 44 km (including vein sections) and by at least 17 open shafts and 8 blind shafts with a total depth of 4400 m.
