Here is the "quarry on the broad mountain" and from here you get a pretty good view of the "gorge". Here you are on a plateau that can be reached via well-developed paths. Beautiful natural spot and nature reserve! :-)

The nature reserve Steinbruch am Breiten Berg: is located in the Westerwald district in Rhineland-Palatinate. The approximately 6.5 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 1983, extends north of the local community of Ötzingen. The Aubach flows to the west and runs the district road K 81, the state road L 267 runs to the south and the B 255 to the east. The purpose of protection is the preservation of the abandoned quarry with its water and shallow water zones as a habitat for rare and endangered animal species for scientific reasons.

The Chakchiuma were a North American Indian people who originally settled in the southeastern United States on the Yazoo River in what is now Mississippi. Their dialect was closely related to the Choctaw and Chickasaw (language) languages and belonged to the Muskogee language family. The name Chakchiuma comes from the Choctaw and can be translated as "red crayfish" (Shåktci - crayfish, homma - red).

I passed this point on my hike yesterday, but didn't see any foxes. Since I had my daughter's little dog, the little Cawapu mixed breed dog Josy, with me, I didn't want to go any closer into the gorge, because I didn't want to offer food for the foxes.
