There's also a small kiosk, run voluntarily by members of the Fischhausbad Friends Association.

Very nice resting place at the large Lindleinsee. Very secluded and quiet, 2 benches invite you to relax and rest. The Great Lindleinsee is located near Steinsfeld in Bavaria and is part of the "Great and Small Lindleinsee bird sanctuary". As a nature reserve, it serves the bird life that lives there. Lake lovers from the surrounding towns of Rothenburg ob der Tauber (about 3.5 km from the lake), Neusitz (3.6 km to the shore) and Adelshofen (about 5.0 km away) will find a natural place to relax at the Great Lindleinsee or the opportunity to observe various bird species on a lakeside path. Swimming and entering the reed zone is generally prohibited at the lake. The nearest large town from which you can visit the lake is Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Very close to nature. Admission against donation. near Kommot, the D9 cycle path will still run along here in summer 2023. On site, however, it will probably be switched to a different route. The small and pretty town is a little before Schillingsfürst coming from Feuchtwangen directly on the Franconian Water and Sulzach Cycle Path. Nearby is the Sulz monastery, which is also well known. There is a nice climb coming from Schillingsfürst and of course a descent when driving there. A small garden restaurant is also available, so that nothing stands in the way of a snack. Beautifully situated and surrounded by nothing but nature, the Wörnitz is not far away either, everything is great! Rather, there is nothing to report about this 😇

The headline for this highlight is wrong. This is the ice pond of the Goldochsen Brewery. Here, blocks of ice were sawed out of the frozen lake in winter. This was the time (17th to mid-20th centuries) before refrigerators appeared. The blocks were then stored in the beer cellars. This kept the cellars at around 10 degrees Celsius even in summer. The beer could be stored for about 6 weeks. But this was also important so that the beer could be delivered in summer. Transport by horse and cart required e.g. 2 hours. The beer was not too warm before it was stored again in the pub cellar. Without this cooling, the beer would go bad.
