Once you passed the entrance gate to the Mutianyu tourist area and got off the shuttle bus you have multiple options going up to the wall: 1) simply walk up, which is quite strenuous; 2) take a chairlift up, which allows you to take in some first impressions with a largely unobstructed view; 3) with a gondola ropeway, which takes groups of people per cabin.

11월 28, 2022, Mutianyu Section of the Great Wall of China
Some very steep sections of the Great Wall, you have to walk some time to get there. You start with a gondola and you can end the whole thing with a track down.

10월 17, 2021, Mutianyu Section of the Great Wall of China
The Mutianyu wall section is not that popular with the locals, and therefore not that crowded. To get here from the city of Beijing, you need a driver and guide. From the parking lot you can take a shuttle to the base with a lift or chairlift. Definitely worth seeing, albeit exhausting. A whole day should be planned.

In 1988, Henkel supported the renovation of this section of the Great Wall of China not only financially, but also with know-how. Henkel products were used in the reconstruction of the Mutianyu section. In recognition of Henkel's contribution, the government erected a “Henkel stone” there as a memorial in Beijing. 2월 2, 2020, Jiankou Great Wall Access Path
We had a taxi organised from Jiankou. No public transport known. The walk along the great wall from Mutianyu (about 2-3h), I did not record on Komoot) is first on an officially open, well rebuilt section, with the corresponding price tag and tourist croud. At the end of the touristic section, there is a small path on the left before the last steps up, allowing to continue forward along a wild section of the great wall, up to the start of this highlight section, which shows only the descent to a small village (Jiankou). For a reliable guided tour, contact jonnyzhangcn@hotmail.com. Jonny organised a good tour for us (group of 6) from Beijing.

7월 13, 2019, Badaling Great Wall Entrance ⛩️
An imposing structure worth a visit. According to recent findings, the wall is so well preserved because it has processed in the mortar rice starch (glutinous rice). That's no joke. Normally, such brick buildings only last about 100 years. By adding rice, smaller crystals form in the mortar, which are more stable and last much longer. A happiness for us today; otherwise we would not be able to marvel at this building today.

A must with every visit to Beijing. There are a lot of tours here (you may have to pass a jade sale before), but you can also take public transportation. In addition to climbing and hiking on the wall, you can also dress in Chinese costumes and be photographed

12월 29, 2016, Dingling Ming Dynasty Tomb ⛩️
The Ming tombs are a collection of mausoleums built by the emperors of the Ming dynasty of China. The first Ming emperor's tomb is located near his capital Nanjing. However, the majority of the Ming tombs are located in a cluster near Beijing and collectively known as the Thirteen Tombs of the Ming Dynasty (Chinese: 明十三陵; pinyin: Míng Shísān Líng; literally: "Ming Thirteen Mausoleums"). They are within the suburban Changping District of Beijing Municipality, 42 kilometres (26 mi) north-northwest of Beijing city center. The site, on the southern slope of Tianshou Mountain (originally Huangtu Mountain), was chosen based on the principles of feng shui by the third Ming emperor, the Yongle Emperor. After the construction of the Imperial Palace (Forbidden City) in 1420, the Yongle Emperor selected his burial site and created his own mausoleum. The subsequent emperors placed their tombs in the same valley. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ming_tombs

12월 29, 2016, Badaling Great Wall Entrance ⛩️
The Badaling Great Wall It is the best-preserved and most complete section. Compared with other sections, most stairs near the start are not very steep and they are equipped with handrails, so it is a relatively easier climb. The northern sided of this section even has one portion equipped with cable car and pulley for handicapped or others to save energy, and it even has some facilities to make it easier for seniors and the disabled. It is close to downtown Beijing, about 43 miles (70 kilometers) away, and easy to reach by public transportation. Still, even if busy on the first half mile, there is almost nobody if you walk a little further up the steeper sections. After a mile you'll have it all for yourself. The entrance area, besides ticket booths, has restaurants, shops, and a museum.

12월 29, 2016, Badaling Great Wall summit 🏰
Highest point of the Great Wall renovated section in the north portion at Badaling. Definitively worth making it to this section or further, as there are almost no people due to steepness, even if the first half mile is crawling with tourists.
