The shelter is located at the entrance to a peaceful forest. You can be buried here in the forest. It's also beautifully quiet here, the shelter is practical, and has a charming name. A wood carving of a squirrel is within sight.

This shelter, also known as the pensioner's hut, was built in 1969 by the then mayor Karl Bettag. It is a popular resting place for hikers and cyclists and offers a nice opportunity to take a break and enjoy nature.

Nice rest stop in the Speyer forest. Opening hours Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Slaughter festival every Wednesday.
