According to a memorial stone below the bank, which is now somewhat difficult to decipher, the Dauntal pond was created in 1979. It is fed by the Daunbächle, a small tributary of the Morre, and is about 1.2 km south of the Hettinger Hollerstocksiedlung, a district of the city of Buchen. The small pond, surrounded by trees and hedges, is a little off the path and can therefore not be seen immediately.
