I spotted them in passing! I'm traveling slower than the cyclists 🙂 A small cave with white sand and the entrance is almost hidden by ivy vines.

There is a legend about the knight "Veit von Veitenstein" regarding the Veitenstein: His daughter was kidnapped by a young man of inferior social standing. The knight killed the man, and the daughter is said to have died of a "broken heart." The knight is said to have then fallen from the Veitenstein in a fit of rage. The information board on site provides further details.

The approx. 600 m² large silver sand cave, which is located east of Stettfeld, was dug into the middle castle sandstone in order to mine the fine-grained and mica-rich, light sand. Mostly this was used as sand. The entrance to the cave is closed with a lattice door. The cave with its vaulted ceiling and some remaining pillars can be clearly seen through the lattice. After registration, it should also be able to be visited. To the right of the entrance to the cave there is a nice resting place at the edge of the meadow.
