Today I climbed up the steep slope because I had previously walked along the gorge of the "Devil's Ditch" and the path suddenly ended at the bottom. But that is not recommended, it is simply too steep. It is better to stay on the path!

The Mariengrotte in Niederklein was built based on the model of the grotto in Lourdes and was consecrated in August 1975 by Pastor Georg Exner. The reason for the construction was the promise after a serious traffic accident to donate a statue to the Blessed Mother. Many volunteers were involved in the construction and also helped to collect the stones from the local district. In 1979 the statue of St. Bernadette was added by a donation. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary in 2015, the facility around the grotto was renovated. A new altar slab and new steps were installed, and the benches were replaced.
