A Werinher de Chapfingen was first mentioned in the last quarter of the 11th century, and the first reliable information about the castle dates back to the 13th century. For centuries, the moated castle has shaped the image and history of Taufkirchen an der Vils, an Upper Bavarian community in the eastern district of Erding.
