The fare from the ferryman is now €3, at the machine it would be 30 or 60 kroner (person & bike extra?), but the machine didn't want to read my bank card.

Beautiful tour by the lake

We were at the ferry on April 20, 2025, but it doesn't run at this time of year, so we had to cycle the whole way back uphill.

During holiday periods it can get crowded here

We enjoyed taking the ferry, which is located about halfway across the reservoir. We did a circuit around the northern and southern shores of the reservoir. We always started from Cerna v Posumavi and we always covered around 50 km. This saves a lot of time and you can always use the time in between to enjoy nature or other great places.

From here you can take the regular ferry across Lake Moldau, a real experience. Payment is made directly on the ferry.

The Lipno reservoir (Moldau reservoir) is located on the Czech border with Austria in the "Bohemian Forest National Park and Landscape Conservation Area". With a length of around 30 km and a maximum width of around 6 km, the lake is the largest lake in the Czech Republic and a meeting point for swimmers, divers and other water sports enthusiasts. A beautiful cycle path leads around the lake, which always offers a great view of the Lipno.
