Waidhofen is always worth a stay

A worthwhile destination for a tour or a detour beyond the main route. A pretty, tranquil town with some sights. You can linger a while in this place, there is a lot to discover! It's worth it!

The Gleiß castle ruins are a hilltop castle, first documented mention in 993. In 1806, the then well-preserved castle was burned down by the French during the Second Napoleonic War, after which it was not rebuilt and left to decay.

The city has a lower and upper market, beautiful town houses and cafes. A popular weekly market takes place on Tuesday and Friday mornings.

Since my father came from Waidhofen an der Ybbs, I spent a lot of time in this beautiful area as a child. A lot has changed in the city, but the flair hasn't changed that much, and it's also nice that there are still institutions like pastry shops like Piaty and Erb 🥰

Waidhofen is a really worth seeing town on the Ybbs and Eisenstrasse. The magnificent Rothschild Castle with its inner courtyard and subsequent museum, the town square with its many refreshment stops and the towers - to name just a few highlights. The colorful facades of the baroque houses are a wonderful photo opportunity!
