Zeillern Castle was built on the ruins of a medieval moated castle, first mentioned in 1052 in connection with a "Chuno von Cidelaren." In 1605, Wolf Friedrich Freiherr von Tattenbach acquired the property, remodeled it in the Renaissance style, and gave it its characteristic appearance, which remains to this day. Waidhofen is always worth a stay

Zeillern Castle is a magnificent castle in the municipality of Zeillern in Lower Austria. It is considered an important historical building in the region and is now used for events and as a hotel and seminar center. The castle was built in the 16th century, but its roots go back to a medieval castle complex. Over the centuries it changed owners several times and was gradually converted into a representative Renaissance castle. The castle underwent structural extensions and modernizations, particularly in the 17th and 18th centuries. The castle is a typical example of Renaissance architecture with Baroque elements that were added later. It consists of a rectangular main wing with an inner courtyard. The striking clock tower and the facade with sgraffito decorations give the castle its special charm. Today Zeillern Castle is used as a hotel and seminar center.

Zeillern Castle is currently being renovated. It has a beautiful park and is often used for cultural events and weddings.

The castle houses a local history museum and Ernst Urschitz's historical weapons collection with over 400 exhibits in the castle tower. The 23 m high tower also serves as a viewing tower with a panoramic view of the Mostviertel.
