Between 1890 and 2001, the Sisters of the Good Shepherd ran a reformatory for girls from desolate social backgrounds on the grounds of Harbach Castle in the St. Peter district on the eastern outskirts of Klagenfurt am Wörthersee.

The castle dates back to the 12th century. It is enthroned on a rock that drops steeply to the Drau. Burghof and Söller (a dream view of the Karawanken) are freely accessible. The castle is owned by the Kyrle family, which also owns a large forest management company.

In the park of Welzenegg Castle you can always find a quiet and shady place to rest and have a snack, even on hot and sunny days.

In the first half of the 16th century, the building was built as a hall house by an as yet unknown client. In 1991 the municipality of Ferlach bought the castle in order to preserve this valuable, historical gem with a wonderful nature park. Today, in addition to the gunsmith and hunting museum and the special exhibition "The Hunting Myth - Horten Collection", the city library, the wedding hall and a café are located in Ferlach Castle. Representative event rooms form a successful unit for events of all kinds.
