Beautiful view of Lake Karakul and the mountains. A quick descent on asphalt to the village of Karakul.

Kyzyl-Art, Kyzylarth (Kyrgyz: Kyzyl-Art; Tajik: Surkhkotal) is a mountain pass in the Zaalai Range on the Pamir Highway on the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. The Osh-Khorog motorway passes through the pass. The pass is 4,280 metres above sea level.

If you cross this border post, enjoy the journey, but keep in mind that it can get complicated at any time due to the weather, it is very changeable and could put you in serious difficulties if you cross it and are not well supplied and equipped.

I can of another mountain

The Fortress is about one kilometre before Bibi Fatima hot spring. This 12th-century fort is the most impressive of the Wakhan Valley's many tumbledown castle ruins, complete with multiple walls and round watchtowers. The site is reached via a 6km zigzag drive from the main road (towards Bibi Fatima Springs) and sits about 500m above the valley. The hillside west of the fort offers the best views of the fort in the foreground and the snowy panorama beyond (Source Lonely Planet).

This is a weekly market held on sand bank on the no man's land of the Panj River. It's located in between Tajikistan and Afghanistan. Passport must be shown to cross the bridge but u keep your passport. It's peaceful, safe and orderly. Opens around 0930-1000. Can take a cab from Ishkashim for about 100Somoni or ride your bike and lock it near the guard standing beside the bridge on Tajik side. It's very colorful with Afghani men peddling food, clothing, household goods to fresh produce. Great place to spend 1-2 hours.

Hey @tristanbogaard, thank you very much for your documentation of that area, it's super useful! maybe you can help me out...starting from this point, there is a hiking path going south and traversing over a pass at 4500m. Do you have any information on this pass? Thanks in advance!

A couple of waterfalls and a fountain where local drinks (I've filtered for safety). There is also a small building with latrine-type toilets. The restaurant marked on other maps is closed. last chance for food is 20km earlier. Turn right just before the bridge opposite the last small waterfall on a small path and you can go down to a green area with few flat patches perfect to pitch the tent under the shade of trees. And you can have easy access to toilet and water above you.
