Boat rental has been managed by a private operator since the 2004 season. In addition to the well-known range of electric boats, pedal boats and rowing boats, there are now also some interesting new types of boats available - you'll be surprised!

The boat rental is open every year from Easter to mid-October, weather permitting. You can rent the boats Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, Sunday and public holidays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The boat rental at the Stapelplatz has been a popular attraction at the castle pond for over 200 years. Experience the ambience of the romantic pond landscape with its seven islands directly from the water. A boat trip on the approximately 25 hectare castle pond is a lasting experience for the whole family.

If you walk in the Laxenburg Castle Park from the ferry at the Franzensburg in an easterly direction, always along the bank of the castle pond, you will logically come to the end of the water at some point. Opposite a narrow channel you can see a densely wooded island and a little further ahead you can see the weir that regulates the water level in the pond. Otherwise there doesn't seem to be anything special here. And yet... Even in the summer months, when the dense foliage of the numerous trees and shrubs on the island almost obscures the view, there is something striking there. Through gaps in the forest of leaves one can see, if only dimly, the dilapidated masonry of a large building. They are the sparse remains of a once stately building: the Mariana Temple. However, you cannot visit the ruins. The ruins are on an island, the Mariana Island, and cannot be reached from the 'mainland', at least in summer.
