Before 1100, the property belonged to the manor of the Salzburg bishopric ministerials of Steinbrünning. Around 1150, Pilgrimo de Trubinbach and his brother Tagino from the Steinbrünning family donated their own property in Trübenbach to the monastery of St. Peter in Salzburg.

Seeburg Castle consists of a four-storey main building, a castle chapel and a defensive wall with four round corner towers.

This beautiful building from the 15th century once served as the administrative headquarters and country residence of nobles. Today the private university Schloss Seeburg is located here. You will also find a Kneipp facility and an audio guide station for the Seenland Pilgrimage Trail here.

The history of the castle goes back to the 14th century. The castle is privately owned and cannot therefore be visited. However, open-air events take place there during the Salzach Festival. The young Mozart is said to have visited the castle several times.

Klessheim Castle and its park are always worth a visit!

Apart from the moto ... 😷😉 the Seeburg is worth a detour. You should definitely visit the inside.

To get from the Kavalierhaus and Schloss Kleßheim to the Saalachufer, you either follow the cycle path or simply cut off, passing through a small gate near the castle. From there you reach a gravel road that leads directly to the banks of the river Saalach.
