In the past, when our grandparents were still children, the “Hiata”, i.e. the vineyard guardians, were ordered before the legally stipulated start of the harvest. They were responsible for ensuring that the grapes remained where they grew until harvest. As a sign that the “Hiata” were now in use, long acacia sticks with “Duln”, i.e. larger bouquets of herbs and flowers at the top, were set up in a clearly visible manner. The “DULNHE” was one of the points in Weiden/See where the vineyard keepers had a hut and set up these acacia sticks with the “Duln”.

Huts like these used to be used as accommodation for the field guards who were present day and night in the vineyards. They were mostly made of stone, built into the slope, covered with earth and in a place from which the area to be guarded could be viewed well. The furniture was very simple: a brick fireplace with an open smoke outlet, a simple wooden cot, a table, a chair, a wall niche for storing food, a hook for clothes and a tub for washing.

Small hut of the joiser hunting club but above all the fork in the routes. To the left you stay on a slightly sloping gravel road and can easily descend. Those who like it more sporty take the junction to the right, where it goes quite steeply up to the forest run. This leads wonderfully through the forest and compensates for the effort of the ascent.

In earlier times the vineyards were closed in the autumn before the grapes were ripe. At the same time the fields were guarded by the Weingartenhirta. The shepherd's huts were the living quarters of the vineyard keepers at this time. They had to spend the time in the vineyards day and night until the end of the grape harvest.

At the hunting lodge past a small descent (gravel path) on the left or right up to the forest descent (much nicer).

In addition to the possibility to drive the Au to the right or left on the north bank (where the hut is also located) there is also the possibility to cross the Leitha here, to drive a bit to the south and then follow the path in a left curve on a kind of Au- Island to follow between two Leitha arms.

A really idyllic place
