Some of the stones are very slippery. Water shoes are recommended! Life jackets are recommended for small children – the water in some of the pools is very deep.

A gravel road leads into Wadi al Muaydin, at the end of which you can hike further into the valley. The path is marked with green dots and arrows. The rugged mountains rise steeply into the sky on both sides - impressive. Large boulders lie on the valley floor, sometimes you have to climb over them. With a bit of luck you might spot the odd lizard. When we visited in February, the wadi had no water, at least as far as we got on our hike.

the road is good to here, then it becomes much worse, first rocks on the river bed then a landslide. I tried to take this gravel road as a shortcut to Muscat but gave up here. on Google maps there is a point for Sareen National Park further north. in the comments to that point it says there is a locked barrier there. probably why the road has been closed from the north. I didn't see any information from the south. I suppose, for visiting the park, this can be approached from the north. but as a through road it seems impossible to pass.

Need good shoes, that you'd be happy to swim in if you go all the way to the end

Wear trunks if you're going all the way to the end, and a waterproof bag for phone and any valuables.

Beautiful wadi, the hike is worth it as the destination is a beautiful bathing area. Unfortunately, it is also quite well known.
