It was probably built in the 1920s by the Polish army to store ammunition.

It is interesting to see, touch the past and admire the nature surrounding the bunkers...

Very nice place. Unmarked to avoid tourist traffic. Please be cultural, do not break the sand or break down the slope.

Underground munitions warehouse from Vilnius defensive garrison complex, built between 1923-1939. Each group consisted of 5 underground warehouses, of which 1 was two-level, while remaining 4 are single level. Each of the warehouses had two entrances. There has already been a narrow gauge railway line connecting all the warehouses (underground and above ground) and the defensive bunkers on the east side of the city. Some of the warehouses of this specific complex have been converted by soviets to civil bomb hideouts - see the enlargened entrances. However, when installing additional ventilation soviets have damaged the waterproofing thus there's quite some water inside the last two warehouses. These are possible to enter, but beware of the bats that inhabit these cold and dark cellars.

This specific set of warehouses is now mainly occupied by bats, among them some very rare endangered species and mostly locked with iron gates.
