Farnsberg hill near Ormalingen in the Basel region is home to the ruins of Farnsburg Castle, a once mighty knight's castle dating back to the 14th century. Today, the wooded hill is a popular hiking destination offering sweeping views over the Ergolz Valley. Trails lead to the scenic castle ruins from Buus, Hemmiken, and Ormalingen. On the "summit" above the castle, there are picnic areas and barbecue facilities.

Difficult to reach but nevertheless worth seeing are the ruins of Alt-Krienberg on the mountain ridge. In addition to the tower, other remains of the walls are visible along the trail, as well as a small information board at the beginning.
