Trachselwald Castle cannot be reached by public transport. Entry is free. But be careful! Trachselwald is not wheelchair accessible. Although parts such as the keep, the castle courtyard and the castle garden are open to the public, caution is still required when entering the keep. Enter at your own risk! warns a sign. And rightly so. The wooden steps are a bit worn and the last part below the top of the tower consists of a stone and extremely narrow spiral staircase passage with some high steps that only has space for one person. People with a tendency towards claustrophobia or hikers with backpacks will have a hard time. Crossing the stairs is impossible. But you are rewarded with a great view.

Very nice road, a few farms and very, very rarely traffic! Great for learning to ride a bike with children or just having fun and enjoying the scenery!

(Not to be confused with Trachselwald Castle nearby!) The sleep lock is in the tower. We stayed and had breakfast well and cheaply. Next to the castle is a mini brewery www.proBIERmi.ch and a farm with calf rearing.

a beautiful and cool place even in midsummer

Beautiful view over the idyllic Emmental hills. Always worth a visit. In addition, 100 meters away there is a farm shop where ice cream and other food encourage cyclists.

You cannot go all the way to the ruins on a bike. We were allowed to park our bikes with the friendly farmer below the ruins.

Very well preserved ruin. Wonderful foresight. Historical: history The castle was the ancestral seat of the Barons von Signau. The family was first mentioned in 1130 under Werner von Signau. The castle served to protect and control the route between Emmental and Aare valley. In the middle of the 14th century the castle was given up in favor of Neu-Signau Castle. The ruin is comparatively well preserved (remains of the wall).
