The Palace of the Republic is one of the most important concert halls in Kazakhstan and a popular attraction in Almaty. The building was constructed in 1970 and named in honor of Vladimir Lenin. It received its current name, "Palace of the Republic," in 1991 after the collapse of the USSR. The Palace of the Republic underwent reconstruction in 2010-2011, which unfortunately resulted in the complete loss of the building's original architectural appearance.
