We found the circular route rather disappointing. An estimated third of the route goes through allotments between high fences and a quarter through industrial areas far away from the water. We had expected something more interesting. On the positive side: the circular route is perfectly signposted.

The Banter See is a lake in Wilhelmshaven, Lower Saxony. It is a former harbor basin. The lake is located in a recreational area and is used for sailing, surfing, diving, canoeing and as a swimming lake. The Klein Wangerooge outdoor swimming pool is located on the lake. Bathing water quality has been monitored since 1991, generally without any complaints. However, in 2003 and 2005 the pool was closed for at least 14 days during the swimming season.
