Beautifully situated lake. At the front of the lake you can drive through a narrow gap directly to the lake (past the barrier and the large stone). Then park your bike at the bench and continue walking along the lake. The ambient noise from the nearby main road must be blocked out.

The mountain lake near Triberg in the Black Forest dates back to the Ice Ages. It is one of the few natural lakes in the Middle Black Forest. According to an information board on the lakeshore, the Triberg mountain lake is considered a glacial niche from the Riss Ice Age because of its circular shape, the steep circus-like slopes and its opening to the northeast. The heights around Triberg had their own glaciation during the Riss Ice Age. The snow line was 700 m above sea level.
