The cellar is possibly related to the remains of the wall of the "Heppenheimer Hütte" on the Lindenstein. This hut was built in 1910 by the Odenwald Club and was a popular place for excursions until it was destroyed in World War II.

Marble was quarried here. Auerbach marble, a metamorphic rock, occurs in a strip about two kilometers long in the Odenwald, south of Hochstädten near Auerbach. Auerbacher marble is important in terms of architectural history because it played a role as a stone and there are few occurrences in Germany. It is believed to have been mined in Roman times.

Copper ore containing silver was mined and melted on the spot in the smelting works in the "Zur Grace Gottes" pit, which is located above the Nieder-Modauer Weg between Ober-Ramstadt and Nieder-Modau and is part of the district of the "core town". The pit of Grace Gottes is located in the Modautal, about 2.4km south of Ober-Ramstadt and 500m NE of the northern outskirts of Nieder-Modau on the eastern slope of the Silberberg. You can still see reel shafts, opencast mines, pings and tunnels with the associated small heaps.
