The Großenbach Valley near Sachsenbrunn (a district of Eisfeld in the Thuringian Forest) is an idyllic, wooded valley surrounding the Großenbach River, which flows into the Werra River at Sachsenbrunn. With the nearby Bleßberg (867 m) and the yew grove, the region offers excellent hiking and recreational opportunities in the upper Werra Valley.

In summer, a beautiful walk along the water under the shade of the trees. Often slippery in late autumn or winter.

During my hike through the Teufelsgraben, I was fascinated by the idyllic and almost mystical atmosphere that surrounds this place. The path led me along a narrow path that seemed to have been lovingly crafted by hand. With its many small bridges that lead picturesquely over the ditch and alternately switch to one side or the other of the path, the Teufelsgraben offered a charming and varied hiking experience. The wild beauty of this piece of forest, with its old, charming bridges and the rippling of the water, creates an atmosphere that is both calming and inspiring. The opportunity to go in search of fire salamanders adds an additional fascination to the place and makes it a perfect destination for nature watchers.

It is a spot that enchants hikers with its natural beauty and tranquility. As I entered this picturesque valley, I was immediately captured by its tranquil and romantic atmosphere. The moist subsoil of the Fehrenbacher Grund forms a unique biotope, a paradise for the local flora and fauna. It is a place where nature still appears untouched and you can feel the diversity of life in every leaf and every drop of dew. The benches along the path invite you to sit down and unwind. I sat down on one of the benches, surrounded by the silence of the forest, and let the moment sink in. It is a place that invites you to pause, reflect and enjoy the simple things in life. A picnic or breakfast in these surroundings is a real dream. Surrounded by the beauty of the valley and the fresh forest air, even the simplest dishes taste like a feast. The Fehrenbacher Grund is a perfect place to take a break, recharge your batteries and enjoy nature in all its splendor.
