In the heart of Bergkirchen, right at the top of the Wiehen Hills pass (163 meters above sea level), opposite the Church of St. Nicholas and the hotel-restaurant "Wittekindsquelle," stands this beautiful, solidly built mountain hut with a boulder in front of the entrance. It likely also serves as a bus shelter. This is not only the intersection of the roads from Rothenuffeln/Hartum/Oberlübbe/Haddenhausen/Minden (to the north) and Volmerdingsen/Bad Oeynhausen as well as Wulferdingsen/Halstern/Löhne (to the south), but also several popular cycling and hiking trails. Accordingly, the mountain hut is also equipped with tourist information boards.

Since 2023, there has been a beautiful rest area with a shelter, bicycle repair station and information boards (according to the new Weser Cycle Route standard) on the Weser Cycle Route in Vlotho-Uffeln (Höferweg, near the Uffeln gravel pit lake).

On the descent you get up to a decent speed 🚴‍♂️
