After extensive refurbishment in 2009/2010, the Schwedenfrieden is now one of the "in" locations for celebrations of all kinds, hotel, event venue and popular destination. Schwedenschanze is a common popular name for old ramparts, the origin of which was not exactly known. The rampart next to the refuge is the actual Schwedenschanze and was probably only built around 1673.
