A former storage cellar at the Bericher Hütte lies even deeper than the dam model and can therefore only be viewed when the water level of the Eder is low enough. You wouldn't even notice that the cellar has been underwater for over 100 years. Impressive craftsmanship!

Before the actual dam was built, a 1:40 scale model was built at the Bericher Hütte. The various water drainage systems were tested on this model. For this purpose, water was taken from the old mill race of the former hut. Even today, the dam model reappears at low water levels and is still very well preserved. The dam model becomes visible at a water level of 221.05 m above sea level.

The food is good there, with a wide selection of dishes to suit both small and large appetites. The people there were very friendly.

Generously laid out barbecue hut with a rest area, clean toilet facilities and ample parking. Well suited as a start for a tour around the Edersee.
