Stunning castle with a beautiful park where you can for a hike around the lake. I highly recommend it.

A stream was damned to create the Furnace Pond as a means to power the huge hammer at John Browne's forge. A gun foundry on such a huge scale that its flames could be seen from 10 miles away.

There's no bridge where you need to cross the river, be prepared to get creative to ford it!

From here on this got very challenging. As well as hills and narrow paths MUD. Walked for a while but glad I wore waterproof hiking boots.

Worth taking this route for the lovely scenery and section through north Horsted Keynes where you will pass it's grade 1 church. The gravel section is a good surface.

A stunning lake on a private estate (that has public rights of way). Lots of breeding birds and clear waters.
