Be careful using the benches around the campsite as it is private land with a right of way through it.

The lake area near the St. Ives campsite is a great place to make a brief stop on your route and enjoy the surroundings or have a meal.

A stream was damned to create the Furnace Pond as a means to power the huge hammer at John Browne's forge. A gun foundry on such a huge scale that its flames could be seen from 10 miles away.

Lots of parking, toilets and a small cafe

From here on this got very challenging. As well as hills and narrow paths MUD. Walked for a while but glad I wore waterproof hiking boots.

With 78 acres of parkland and a 6-acre lake, Dunorlan Park is a lovely green oasis in Royal Tunbridge Wells. The park was designed by renowned horticulturist Robert Marnock for Henry Reed in the 19th century. Today, the park is owned by the Council and has become a much-loved spot among locals. You can enjoy a coffee in the cafe, hire a boat on the lake, or just relax with a picnic on the grass.
