A gorgeous reserve in the heart of the Broads, Upton Broad and Marshes hosts several distinctive habitats. Its mix of alder carr woodland, fen, reedbed and grazing marsh makes it a haven for some of the region's most coveted wildlife, including the swallowtail butterfly. You might also see water voles, otters and a huge range of dragonflies, with over 20 recorded species.

Buckenham Marshes is a nature reserve situated on the northern bank of the River Yare. It’s home to a variety of wildlife including wading birds, ducks and geese. The reserve is also an important breeding ground for lapwings, redshanks and other bird species. Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden consists of 130 acres (52 ha) of ancient woodland with over 3.5 miles (5.6 km) of paths. It has a tearoom, gift shop, bird hides, children's nature trail and plant sales area. In the spring you can see the UK's finest collection of Candelabra Primulas as well as bluebells, camellia's and wood anemones. In summer there are Hydrangeas, Philadelphus and many wild flowers. Migrant birds and other wildlife come to the garden in the autumn, and there are many varieties of fungi and toadstools. In the winter you might be able to spot kingfishers, deer and otters. This circular cycle path runs around Whitlingham Broad, part of Whitlingham Country Park. It’s a good compact surface with fantastic views over the water. There’s a cafe at the south west corner called Flint Barn.

Buckenham Marshes is a wetland habitat located in the heart of the Norfolk Broads. The marshes are home to a diversity of animal and bird species, and are especially known for their large flocks of wintering wading birds, including lapwings and golden clovers.

RSPB Rockland Marshes is a nature reserve with wonderful views over Rockland Broad and the River Yare. The reedbeds and open grazing marshes afford year-round displays of wildlife. Keep a look out for bird species including barn owl, great crested grebe, Cetti's warbler, kingfisher, mute swan, tufted duck, pochard, and goldeneye.

Buckenham marshes is an ideal place to watch for birds of prey, including barn owls, marsh harriers, kestrels and peregrine falcons. Look out for hares, stoats and Chinese water deer in the surrounding fields.
