Wonderful campsite secluded in the Afan Valley. Great, flat camping field, excellent facilities including a communal seating area, wood fired sauna & plunge pool. It’s also well situated to access hiking & bikng trails.

The first place in the UK where I"ve been and didn't hear cars, airplains. Just the forest, sound of wind and rain. If you want to complete disconect yourself from a daily life, this is the right place.

Such a special campsite! They are super hospitable and it’s the perfect place to explore the Afan trails 🗺️

A lovely campsite tucked away in Afan Forest. They have their own waterfall, plunge pool and wood fired sauna. A great place to stay to explore the forest and surrounding valleys.

This waterfall & footbridge is hidden down a small footpath going off of the main path. The small path goes slightly downhill & has no sign. Easily missed if you don't know the area!

Melincourt Falls (Sgwd Rhyd Yr Hesg in Welsh) seemed to be one of the unsung waterfalls in an area of South Wales known as Waterfall Country. I suspect the reason why this falls wasn’t as well known as the others was that it was not part of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Actually, it was in its own reserve managed by the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales towards the head of the Vale of Neath. So I’d imagine it kind of fell off the radar for most of the literature let alone tourist itineraries! When I saw the 80ft (24m) waterfall in person, I was quite surprised at how similar looked to the nearby Sgwd Henrhyd!! One that you can also walk behind unknown to most.
