컬럼비아 강변을 따라 걷기 좋은 산책

The Illecillewaet Greenbelt runs through cottonwood and spruce forests and marshland, offering great riverside views. The trail is wide and well-maintained, open to walking, jogging, cycling, dog walking, birdwatching, photography, cross-country skiing, or snowshoeing in winter. The greenbelt creates easy access downtown for dining and shopping.

The Columbia River flows through Revelstoke and is surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery with views of Mount Begbie and the Selkirk Mountains. This stretch of the river is heavily controlled by dams and reservoirs and provides power through the Columbia Basin hydro system. Animals such as bald eagles, ospreys, and herons call this river home.

Does anyone know what it looks like there now? At least in the third photo, it looks to me (also based on the "fresh" earth edges on the left and right) as if the path is simply not finished here yet and the surface is still being built.

In mid-September we were able to observe salmon coming up the river to spawn.

3+3 km return hike from Begbie Falls Recreation area parking on BC23 8 km south of Revelstoke. Nice and easy hike to pretty waterfall. Will be spectacular in spring. Lots of mosquitoes in summer.

The views are impressive, with panoramic views of the canyon and valley that will leave you speechless. The route is mostly flat, making it accessible to cyclists of all levels, although the length of the ride and elevated views add a touch of adventure. The infrastructure is excellent, with good maintenance and signage, so you can focus on enjoying the trip. There are convenient access points and options to rent bikes if you don't bring your own.

Between 1915 and up to 1989, steaming trains thundered over the Kettle Valley Railroad. Nowadays, you can now hike and bike on today's Kettle Valley Rail Trail. The trail is almost 500 kilometers long and stretches from the town of Hope at the eastern end of the Fraser Valley or Lower Mainland to the border between Canada and the USA at Midway, Okanogan. And that's not all: it is part of the longest trail in the world, the Trans-Canada Trail, which is an impressive 22,000 kilometers long and connects three oceans.
